In 2013, IBEW Local 196 partnered with NECA and other electrical contractors to create our Safety & Education Training Fund to provide industry leading training and education to our members. Over the years, we have provided countless hours of training and instruction to our members. We strive to provide the most current and up to date materials and experiences so our members can feel safe and confident while performing their duties. The electrical field is ever changing, and so must we.
We offer training and hands on experience for all aspects of outside electrical construction. It does not matter if your work underground or overhead, our facility caters to all.
For our groundmen and groundwomen, we offer an Introduction to Line Apprenticeship course where they will be able to experience all aspects of line work, in a safe manner, to see if an apprenticeship is something they are interested in. Additionally, there are classes for excavation, directional drilling, flagger, confined space, OSHA and more to ensure a competent worker.
For those interested in becoming an equipment operator, we offer courses on how to set up and properly run a directional drill, various excavators, and heavy machinery.
For those who have already completed an apprenticeship, we offer continuing education to stay up-to-date with technology and materials changes, OSHA requirements, and more.
